An eventful 6 week birthday weekend

It was a busy weekend!

Friday night we had cousin Gianna hanging out with us for a couple of hours while Aunt Amy was at a church event in Baraboo. Gianna was so helpful with Berkley and very understanding when Berkley was a little crabby and didn't want to "play" as much as she would have liked. Berkley also got a chance to try a swing that Gianna had as a baby, and she seems to like it...and gives us another place for her to "hang out!"

On Saturday, Berkley had her first "social" outing (something other than Dr appointments)! We went to Sun Prairie to have dinner with some friends, and despite it being her hardest time of the day (again - evenings can be tough for her - she just gets a bit fussy), she did really pretty good!

On Sunday, we finally got out for a walk since the weather was half-way decent. We went down to Grandma and Grandpa Webers, as their (long) driveway is pretty clear of snow & a safer option than the country roads down by us. Our stroller worked great (thanks to my cowrkers for such a generous shower gift!) and handled the small amounts of snow without a problem! We had a nice walk as a family and I'm looking forward to continuing to go on walks with her as the weather continues to improve. In fact, Berkley and I went for a walk today again...here are a few pictures from our outing :)

A growth spurt

I think Berkley might be having a growth spurt! The last day or so she has seemed to want to eat more often - so it will be interesting to see what she weighs at her next appt! That's not for another couple of weeks...when she's 2 months old. That's also when she gets her first round of vaccine shots - something I'm not looking forward to!

It's so nice to see that the weather is starting to warm up and be sunny - hopefully we'll get out for a walk together. Both her and I are going a little stir crazy I think!

Berkley has been sleeping better, and I think we're getting better at reading her and what she needs. We also picked up some Mylicon drops and that's helped in the moments where she seems to have a particularly gassy stomach. It has definitely helped!!

Like I said in the last post, she is so much more responsive and smiley lately - it's so cute and fun! Within an hour of waking up in the morning is the best time, so I always look forward to that! She's also started "talking" making cute little noises!

Finally - a video!

Berkley is much more active and responsive now and very smiley! It's much more fun and even though it's only for short periods of time, it's great to be able to play with her a bit! Here is a video I took a few days ago when she was playing on her little playmat.

5 week old pictures...

Catching up on some sleep!

Having some fun!!

The cats are finally coming around more often...Steve-o and Berkley even spent some time together on the couch.

Happy "1 Month Birthday," Berkley!

Berkley turned four weeks on Sunday!!  It's hard to believe it's been a month already - Ben thinks it seems that long, but I'm not sure. It kind of feels like we just brought her home!

To celebrate her "birthday", she slept basically through the night (11pm-6am!) on Saturday night! Before you even think we're lucky for such things, I should mention it was likely only because she completely wore herself out from 8-11 with three hours of non-stop, terrorizing crying. It was definitely trying on both of us and tested our patience...but at least we were granted a full night's sleep in return! She did however sleep great Sunday night too (with a much shorter crabby period) - I only had to get up with her once at 3:30am!

Here are a few pictures taken on her 4 week birthday!

We also had a visit from friends Tina and Leah...but once again I totally forgot to take pictures :( Berkley was content the whole time and even let us pass her around a bit without making a fuss.

On Saturday we gave Berkley her first official bath in her "whale of a tub" tub! She did great and semed to be intrigued by the whole process. She only started crying after mom and dad took too long to get her dried off and back in warm clothes. We promised her we'd get better at it! Oh yea - and we also took a minute to take a picture of her hair looking a little curly!

Last but not least, here are a couple of pictures from her first week at home that I realized I never posted as well.

Almost 1 month old!

Grandma Weber was in town helping out for a few days and it was so nice having her here! Berkley had several hours a day with Grandma, and I got some time to get things accomplished around the house. We had a nice home cooked dinner down at G&G Weber's farm, which is where we took this picture. This is just the first of what will be MANY visits down there in her lifetime!

We had some nice visits last weekend from my friend Lisa and Ben's Uncle's family (Phil, Jill,
Melanie, & Melissa), but of course I totally spaced taking any pictures. Darn it!

Berkley is still doing good - although she's definitely given us a few crazy days! Just a lot of unhappy crying for no apparent reason. Call it colic or whatever you want - it's hard to see her so upset, and definitely not fun for us either. We're hanging in there though - and it's random enough that we're not worried it's anything serious at this point. It's all part of getting used to having a baby around!

I typically have to get up with her two times in the night - once around midnight/1am and then again at 3am/4am. At least I get some longer chunks of time to sleep in between, so all in all - I don't feel too sleep deprived. We usually take a nap together at least once during the day too ;) She has her moments of being really alert and smiley, which is so super cute and fun. It's hard to catch the moments on camera - but here are a few cute pictures we've taken recently.
